The (Semi-) Batch Dinner Out

Friday – pay day and dinner out with my batchmates from work, the ci-tech May 2008 batch. Unfortunately, we were not complete last night since some of them have dates and/or have their own lakad.

After taking a free short snack offered (is lasagna a snack?) by our company, we went to a restaurant to eat dinner. A pizza for dinner? Why not. :D Some batchmates (that’s why some ) were playing bowling for the company’s sportsfest, so we decided to take very short look.

There was also band performances on the plaza. Actually, they [my colleages] were waiting for Bamboo. :D While waiting, why not take a taste of Strawberry KitKat Blizzard? :D

Hahaha, I went home very very late :) but I think this dinner-out was the right time after a week of exciting and brain-bleeding C Training introduction (yes, our initial week of C training and there are several weeks to go) and having information overload from project-related technologies. I hope next time we decided to have a batch dinner out, we will be complete. :D

Happy Belated Birthday MotoLJ(Ü)!

Happy belated birthday to my first ever self-bought phone! It is now one year and four days old. :D I was able to buy this phone because I had a tutor when I was in my third year and also I served on the last 2007 national and local elections.

I tutored two grade six girls, who were twins, in science and mathematics for a year. I was just referred by a friend. That helped me to save money, hehe. Aside from that, I served as a third member for the last national and local elections. I got PhP3000 for that. It was hard; I was standing on the board in order to tally the votes. I had to be sharp in order to avoid making any mistakes. I also had to affix a lot of signatures and thumbmarks on all the documents. :D Whew!

My phone is now a year older. Of course it doesn’t look new anymore, haha, it was very shiny back then (although it’s still shiny now). We were separated for almost five months because it was borrowed from me (for a good cause).

From the box:

MOTOSLVR L71

Stylish Design & Finish Shimmering keypad and scratch-resistant glass display, all housed in a stylish durable body.

Earlier, when we finally went home, I dropped it when I was getting out of the car. Blag! I thought it was okay since it got nothing but dirt on my first inspection. But when I was inside our home (of course there was light), I noticed that there was some kind of dirt on the screen that couldn’t be removed easily. I even used a wet cloth to wipe it off but that didn’t work. Upon looking at it more closely, waaah, there was a scratch. My screen is now no longer scratch-free, huhuhu. :( I don’t know how I will resurrect it. :(

I’m so sorry MotoLJ(Ü)… but still happy belated birthday.

Fiesta! Dinner! Chill!

In the afternoon, we went to a friend’s house to celebrate a fiesta. It was held in another barangay (actually, just two blocks away from our house). Food! Karaoke as well, but we didn’t go there to sing because we came late and I had to leave early.

I left them to meet my relatives because it’s my turn to treat them for dinner! Whooh. Since it was my first time and I do not know much about restaurants, we decided to go to KFC. :D And since I came from a fiesta, I was still full. Yehey! I am through with my “initiation”, because they said that my first salary should be spent for treating them. :D

After that, we visited the family of a deceased relative who lived two houses away from ours. We didn’t stay that long and decided to chill out at Starbucks West Avenue since it was raining and the Starbucks at Trinoma (which is nearer) is at the top floor. I ordered Java Chip. :D Everyone spent the time relaxing and chatting with each other.

Anyway, it felt good to see my friends and cousins again. :)

But something happened when I got home…

After Watching American Idol Season 7 Finale

Last Thursday, I went home late to finish the results show/finale of American Idol Season 7. :D

Anyway, I just want to share that OneRepublic had a duet with David Archuleta (both my favorites) :D I have to say that OneRepublic isn’t that good on that live performance (**peace**). Why ‘Apologize?’, they should have sang ‘Stop & Stare’, haha.

My request sana as his contestant’s choice song on the finale is ‘With You‘, again. Can’t get over with it! :D I like also the new song (also a contestant’s choice), ‘In This Moment‘.

A Taste of a Piece

Friday! Yehey! Everyone’s longing for the weekend to come. At last, we can now sleep as long as we want to. Later, we had maki for snack after work. Since it was offered free for us, I was very curious how it taste.

FYI: I rarely eat Japanese food since some of their delicacies have of seafood. I am allergic to seafood. :D

They offered a soup with (soft) tofu and some leaves (yes, leaves! :) I don’t know what kind of soup that was). And I took a piece of maki and a glass of lemonade (in order to contrast the taste if ever the crab stick made a different sensation on my tongue). Haha, I dissected the maki sushi. :D I first tasted the rice; nothing happened. Then the crab stick. :D I found the crab stick tasty (sorry for the word, I have difficulties describing things, but I am sure it was okay.). :D I should have got another one, but we were so excited to go home and sleep! However, I think one is enough. I drank one bottle of lemonade and a half glass of iced tea to overcome my sensation of the crab meat. :D

Welcome to ‘The Singing Bee’!

My nanay never misses to watch this newest variety/game show in ABS-CBN. I always arrive home from work getting in time for this show.

This another franchise from US shown at NBC (the same network that airs ‘Deal On Deal‘ and aired ‘1 vs 100‘) and hosted by former N’SYNC member, Joey Fatone. Generally, the goal for this show in order to get the top prize is to sing (or say) the [next] missing lyrics correctly (i.e., exact words).

For several days, after its initial airing at ABS-CBN, it followed the original rules from the US version. But I noticed since last week that they added the concept of a defending champion. Based on the previous rules, even if The Singing Bee Champion for that night never got a correct lyric for that episode, he will go home only with the trophy. :D But now, after Showdown round, The Singing Bee Champion (or later becomes the challenger) for that night has a guaranteed prize of PhP 20,000. And then at The Final Countdown, the defending champion and the challenger battles out to get the one million peso jackpot prize. Given a set of seven songs (just like before), whoever gets four correct lyrics for that night will take home the jackpot plus the trophy. :D They take turns alternately, starting with the defending champion. Not until someone gets wrong, the current player will continue his turn. For every correct lyric, the player will get Php20,000.

Earlier, a lucky guy got the jackpot prize. What surprised me, he will still continue to defend his spot as The Singing Bee Champion. Anyway, so this wasn’t like whenever who wins the jackpot goes home and the next episode the top spot is available.

Watch ‘The Singing Bee’ weeknights on ‘Primetime Bida’ after ‘TV Patrol World’.

‘On The Side Of Me’ by Corrine May

Just liked this song recently. A friend asked me to search for this song which was played on QTV11 on their Mother’s Day tribute (commercial). :D Wonderful lyrics! :D

‘On The Side Of Me’ by Corrinne May

I’m not the easiest person to love
I’m often the one who lets things go unresolved

Yet you choose to be
on the side of me
on the side of me
Yet you choose to be
on the side of me
on the side of me

I’m not too proud of some things
I’ve done in my life
The skeletons in my closet
Are too big for me to hide

Yet you choose to be
on the side of me
on the side of me
Blessed Charity
You’re on the side of me
on the side of me

‘Cause everyone needs a friend to hold
when it’s cold outside
and there’s no place to go
Everyone needs a friend to hold
all alone I cried
there was no place to go
I remember when nobody cared
but you

I’m not the easiest person to love
But you, you’ve opened your heart to show me what I’m worth

‘Cause you choose to be
on the side of me
on the side of me
What a mystery
You’re on the side of me
on the side of me

‘Cause everyone needs a friend to hold
when it’s cold outside
and there’s no place to go
Everyone needs a friend to hold
all alone I cried
there was no place to go

I remember when nobody cared
I remember when nobody cared
Nobody cared
But you

Yeah you choose to be
on the side of me
on the side of me

Some Little Things Why I Do Not Like Here*

*in the Philippines

‘Deal or No Deal: Around the World’ visits The Philippines

I think TV Patrol has reported that Howie Mandel, the host of ‘Deal or No Deal’ USA, arrived here in the Philippines (I think) last April 22, 2008 to tape a two-hour special of ‘Deal or No Deal: Around the World’. Their first stop was here in our beloved country. The show featured our version (actually nothing different from DOND USA) of Deal or No Deal; the studio, the girls (26K), the Filipino Banker :) , and Ms. Kris Aquino (of course) except that it have American contestants (of course, that is their show) and Howie (their host).

Last May 5 (I think), it was scheduled to be aired in the US at NBC. After I got home, I searched for the video. I was very excited to watch this. :D I think, I searched a number of video hosting sites. But I failed to find it. Tomorrow night, immediately after eating dinner, I searched again for the video. Eureka! I was very very excited to watch it to the point that my heart pounds very hard. I got my excitement for quite a long time because I asked also my mother to watch together with me. But she had to wash the dishes first so I waited… With full excitement, I was very happy to see again the studio and the sound, ohh, was like very smooth music to my ears. :D I got emotionally high at that time. I really miss ‘Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal’ but now I arrive at home at around 7:30PM so I won’t be able to watch any show except for ‘The Singing Bee’. But I think, “Wheel of Fortune’ is much entertaining than KDOND. Back to topic, I was very very happy to watch this show again. I really appreciated that they still used the whole KDOND theme (from the studio to the camera angles. I told you so, I’m so into details with these kind of shows.) except for the title card for obvious reasons.

My only comment for this episode is…

  • Kris was most of the time standing at the corner. It would have been better if she shared some hosting stints with Howie. (In comparison to when they went to Estonia, their second stop, next to The Philippines.)

I found it very fun when…

  • Kris showed Howie how to ask the question, ‘Deal or no deal?’. :D Kris said, “You have to do the swivel.”
  • Howie was presented a ‘balot’ and the way they say it: ‘ba-loot’. :D

My questions regarding the teaser are…

  • Why is the font used in the teaser was yellow with red background?
  • When did Kris mentioned 42 million pesos? I didnt noticed it all through out the show. :D

Anyway, this video made my day. :D
